DIRECT DEPOSIT OF YOUR FEDERAL REFUND

You can receive your refund more quickly through direct deposit. To do this, fill in Lines 74b, 74c and 74d on your Form 1040. Be very careful, the information must be exact. The bank routing number is on the bottom of each of your checks. It is the 9 digits between symbols that look like |: |:. You may also call your bank for the routing number.

CHECK THE STATUS OF YOUR FEDERAL REFUND (must have been filed at least 6 weeks prior) To check the status of your refund, you'll need to provide the following information as shown on your return:

  • Your Social Security Number (or IRS Individual Taxpayer Identification Number)
  • Your Filing Status, (Single, Married Filing Joint Return, Married Filing Separate Return, Head of Household, or Qualifying Widow(er))
  • The refund amount (It is important to enter the refund amount exactly as it is shown on your return in order for the computer system to retrieve your data)

If you do pay by credit card, enter the confirmation number given at the end of the call in the upper left corner of your 1040 form (if you have not already mailed the return).
